Heroic Pleasure vs. Honda Activa

In the Indian two-wheeler industry, there are many scooters designed for girls and working women. Such scooters are typically lightweight and easy to handle and park. There are many such scooters like Honda Dio, TVS Wego, Bajaj Kristal, Vespa VX, TVS Scooty Pep, Hero Pleasure and Honda Activa. Here an attempt is made to compare the characteristics of the two best selling 100cc models, Hero Pleasure and Honda Activa.

Hero Pleasure was originally launched in 2005 and updated in 2013. Honda Activa, launched in 2000, was updated in 2013 as the Activa-I. Priced at Rs 46,400, the Activa-I has a 109cc, 8HP and 9Nm torque engine. Both have a carburetor fuel system and CDI ignition with a spark plug. Both have automatic transmissions with dry clutches.

Hero Pleasure features an all analog console with speedometer, fuel gauge and low fuel indicator. The Atctiva’s all-analog console features a speedometer, trip meter, fuel gauge, tachometer, and low fuel and oil level indicators. Both have electric starters. The bike has a 4Ah battery with 35W reflector headlights, 5W taillight, 21W brake light and turn signals. Honda Activa has a 3 Ah maintenance-free battery with 35 W reflector headlight, LED tail light and indicators.

Both scooters have high rigidity under the bone type chassis. The suspension of the Pleasure consists of a lower link with a spring-loaded hydraulic damper at the front and a swingarm with a spring-loaded hydraulic damper at the rear. Activa also has spring-loaded hydraulic dampers at both ends. Pleasure comes in different colors like Orange, Green, Silver, Purple, Black, Red and White, Blue, Just White and Red. Honda Activa is available in Geny Gray Metallic, Candy Lucid Red and Metallic Black.

At 104 kg, the Hero Pleasure is lighter than the Activa at 110 kg. The Activa’s ground clearance is 153mm, which is better than the Pleasure’s 125mm. The brakes are 130mm drum brakes on both ends for both vehicles. The tires are sized 3.50×10”-51J for Pleasure and spec 90/100×10”-53J for Activa. Mileage and top speed of Pleasure are 49 kmpl and 77 km/h and those of Activa are 55 kmpl and 85 km/h.

The driving characteristics and the larger selection of colors are the plus points of Hero Pleasure. Beneficiaries of the Honda Activa are its combo braking system and better fuel efficiency.
